The goods of the ground, which are dissipated in one moment like a light vapor, cannot return happy that which has them. Lord, when I ask the rich person raised with the ridge of human prosperity, with which nothing misses, if he’s satisfied, he leaves only the complaints, of the cries of anguish and pain, of the mouth of this happy of the world. Large God! How much I must fear them, these perishable goods: It’s easier with a camel, say you, to pass by the hole of a needle, that with a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven. Does sovereign judge the alive ones and deaths, which rich person will be saved? Which rich person should not fear to hear these terrible words of your mouth: « And now, Ô rich person, cry and push howls in miseries which will melt on you. You lived on the ground in the delights and pleasures; you fattened yourselves for the day of the sacrifice. » Support me, Seigneur, by the grace of the Holy Spirit; support me by your virtue internally; so that I banish my heart all vain solicitudes which torment it, and which I would be carried by the desire of anything; but that appreciating all things what they are, I, way that they pass, and which I will also pass with them. Because there is nothing stable under the sun; and all is vanity and affliction of spirit. Amen.
